Frequently Asked Questions
Does it work? Do you offer a warranty?
We installed our first test panels on a building in Kelowna back in March 2012 and those panels remain undamaged to this day. Since then, EIFS Armour has installed more than 500,000 square feet of our patented EIFS product on more than 150 buildings in cities across Western Canada, including new projects where EIFS Armour has been specified by the architect. Due to the tremendous success of our initial projects, EIFS Armour is able to offer a lifetime warranty against bird nesting; no other EIFS provider can make the same claim and back their work with an equivalent warranty.
Will installing EIFS Armour have an affect on the appearance of my building?
Our team is comprised of experienced installers who have extensive knowledge and skill in repair, restoration and installation EIFS and stucco. This knowledge and training allows us to match any restoration work and new panels to the existing structure for a seamless look.
Why do the woodpeckers damage my walls?
Increasing urbanization and construction has led to a reduction in habitats for woodpeckers and flickers. With a reduction in available habitats within their natural territories, the birds look for new structures in which to nest and the nature of the traditional EIFS wall systems and its structure makes it a natural choice for woodpeckers that find themselves living in urban areas. Over the past 5 years we have seen a steady increase in the amount and scale of bird damage to EIFS clad buildings and we anticipate that this trend will continue.
How much does it cost?
Our EIFS Armour system is a patented process that eliminates bird damage on EIFS clad commercial and residential buildings. The cost of using EIFS Armour is dependent on a number of environmental and situational factors (for example: how high up the damage is, how large the panels are, contours on cornicing, etc.). On average, EIFS Armour costs two times more than traditional EIFS systems and many of our clients have recouped that cost through avoiding annual repairs to areas damaged by woodpeckers.
What do you do to the holes before installing EIFS Armour?
EIFS Armour is a patented product and while we can’t go into the specifics of how it works, we can tell you that repairing bird damage to EIFS systems requires the replacement of the entire EIFS panel. Your new EIFS Armour panel will be virtually impenetrable, making it impossible for woodpeckers and other birds to damage or nest in your walls.
Do you have an EIFS Armour location in my area?
We are currently reviewing emerging market opportunities and seeking out partnerships with qualified, reliable installers in areas across North America. We are accepting enquiries from building owners and managers who are interested in EIFS Armour and we will let you know as soon as we have an EIFS Armour partner in your region. We are also happy to accept recommendations for an EIFS or stucco provider in your area that you think we should connect with about becoming an EIFS Armour licensee.
Where can I see EIFS Armour?
We have worked with a number of clients throughout the Okanagan Valley and in cities like Calgary. Some of our EIFS Armour projects in the Okanagan include the Royal Residences at the Delta Grand in downtown Kelowna, the West Kelowna RCMP detachment, the Centuria building on Gordon Drive and Playa Del Sol Resort.
